Make a Donation "Densho helps students learn the lessons from the past, so that they might do their part to create democracy anew for future generations." --Paula Fraser,Teacher of the Year, Foundation for the Future Dear Friends, Densho is motivated by a big idea. Over twelve years ago we committed ourselves to creating an innovative educational resource that combined digital technology and inventive civics lessons with compelling video testimonies by Japanese Americans describing how their lives were forever changed by being unjustly incarcerated during World War II. In our free online digital archive, we now offer nearly 300 interviews documenting diverse perspectives and journeys. We also provide 10,000 historical photographs and documents to students and other researchers. For teachers across the nation, we have created classroom exercises that teach about constitutional principles and apply primary sources of history to class projects. I am proud to say Densho has made great strides toward this big idea by
But we haven't completed the big idea yet. Our resources focus heavily on the Pacific Northwest. We need to produce hundreds more interviews across the country to create a truly comprehensive collection. And because of the age of the Nisei, we need to conduct these interviews as soon as possible. Please make a gift now to help us capture these life stories in the next few years. I pledge that Densho will make the most of your gift as we build a legacy that will educate many generations to come. We are grateful for your support.
